Future of work, AI, climate action: agenda for WGS 2024 in Dubai announced – News

Under the theme ‘Shaping the Governments of the Future’, the 11th World Government Summit (WGS), taking place from February 12 to 14 in Dubai, will focus on future opportunities and challenges while addressing issues current globals.

More than 25 heads of state and government, 120 government delegations, 85 international and regional organizations and institutions, experts and more than 4,000 attendees are expected to attend the three-day summit.

Among the heads of state who will speak and attend the event are Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi; the president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame; William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya; and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, as well as the President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, the President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the President of Mauritius, Prithvirajsing Roopun, and the President of the Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan.

Strategic reports

The summit will launch around 25 strategic reports and the Global Ministers Survey, where ministers are invited to share their ideas on crucial global issues.

WGS covers six main topics. The Arab Fiscal Forum, Day Zero, will address macroeconomic developments, reforms of energy subsidiaries and social safety nets. Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, will speak at the opening session.

On the first day (February 12), several sessions will be held in the forums on the future of work and the future of mobility. There will also be a ministerial roundtable on climate action and a roundtable on scientific discoveries and applications of Nobel Prize winners.

On the second day (February 13) there will be forums on geotechnology, artificial intelligence, experience and government services.

Strategies for sustainable investments in emerging markets will be among the areas of focus on the last day (February 14) of the summit. Other events include the Future of Space Forum and global health and education forums.

Global Awards

WGS will also witness several global awards including the World’s Best Minister Award, the Dubai International Award for Best Sustainable Development Practices, the Creative Government Innovations Award, the Global Award for Best Government Applications and the to Global Government Excellence.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Government Summit Organization, said the summit reflects the vision of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to shape the future and encourage positive changes.
