Let’s face it, going to dinner can get repetitive and boring. No matter how much you love food, you can get in kind of a restaurant rut. You can grow tired of the normal routine of ordering your drinks, ordering your food, yawn, yawn, yawn. If you’re looking to spice up your dining experience, then you absolutely must go to these bizarrely themed and oddly placed restaurants across the world. It will surely kick your restaurateur experience up a notch. 

1.) Eating with the fishes.

Located 16 feet below sea level at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island in the Republic of Maldives, Ithaa is was the world´s first undersea restaurant. Providing not only delicious luxury meals but also incredible panoramic undersea views, the restaurant has a capacity of just 14 people.

2.) Eating in a tree.

This restaurant in Thailand allows guests to sit in a private birds nest in a tree. The tree nests hung 16 feet above the ground are served by waiters who use a zip line to deliver the food and drinks. A typical dinner for two costs about 450 USD but eating in a bird´s nest should be worth it.

This restaurant in Brooklyn, NY features nothing special in terms of menu items but it is unique because the owner of the restaurant requires customers to eat in silence. So go visit “Eat” in Brooklyn if you hate talking to your friends.

22.) Eating with monkeys.

Japan is known for its crazy technological advances and the hubbub around their largest city, Tokyo. Well, if you are looking to have your food served to you by monkeys, you’ll have to travel to Utsunomiya. The restaurant’s owner, Otsuka, reported that he never initially taught the monkeys; they learned the work just from watching him. Nowadays, the monkeys are certified by the local authorities to work in the tavern, and they are well appreciated by customers, who tip them with soya beans.

23.) Eating in a disaster.

A restaurant in Spain decided that it was imperative for customers to dine while experiencing an artificial 7.8 magnitude earthquake. This makes for a lot of spilled drinks and food but no major injuries have been reported yet.

24.) Eating on ice.

In Finland you can have quite a cool dining experience, literally! Located north of the Arctic Circle, the Ice Restaurant’s interior is made entirely from ice. For obvious reasons, the restaurant only serves cold meals such as Lappish potato soup with cold smoked salmon, tender reindeer, and game meatballs served with vodka-lingonberry jelly.

25.) Eating in the sky.

Dinner in the Sky is a Belgian project allowing people to enjoy their dinner while dangling thousands of feet above their favorite city. A crane lifts a table seating up to 22 diners strapped into their seats high above the ground, offering them breathtaking views and a unique dining experience.

You know what, maybe I’ll just stick with regular dining. Especially after reading about that poop restaurant. No thank you!
